Tim Russell's First Run In Super Late Model A Good One
Youngster "Shakes Down" Car In Tune Of A Second-Place Finish
The real reason Tim Russell and the #36 Russell Racing team took their Rinnai/Tempaco/Dave Brewer Custom Homes Super Late Model to New Smyrna Speedway on Saturday night was just to shake it down.  It was the first time the team's new Super Late Model would hit the track, after months of preparation.

However, once the race got underway, Russell knew the team might actually have a shot at the win.  In the end though, Timmy fell just short, but was pleased nonetheless, coming home second.
"We really just brought it out to shake it down some and work some of the bugs out of it," said Russell.  "We went out there to get it out on the track and run some laps on it and make sure things were all good with the car."

Because it was his first time at the track with the new car, Russell started from the back of both his heat race and the feature.  Russell came to the front of the field to win the heat, then came to the front to run second behind David Rogers in the feature.

"I learned a lot following him.   He is the master of (New Smyrna Speedway).  He can drive that place with his eyes closed.  So it was helpful in more ways than one."
Russell and the team will be back in action this coming weekend at Seafest on October 6-8 at Desoto Super Speedway in Bradenton, FL.

The team will be racing their #36 Pro Late Model, as well as shaking down the Super Late Model again.
