After Couple Off Weeks, Tim Russell Right Back At It Winning
22-Year-Old Wins Again At Desoto, Finishes Second At Columbia
Earlier this year, young Tim Russell pulled off three straight wins driving his #36 Rinnai/Tempaco/Dave Brewer Custom Homes Late Model.  Then came a couple of off weekends, followed by a race where Tim set fast time only to get wrecked by another car early in the event.

After that, Russell said it was time to start a new streak.   And that is what he is doing right now.
A couple of those three-straight wins from earlier in the year came at Desoto Super Speedway in Bradenton, FL.  So when Tim returned to Desoto on August 13th, he was ready to pick up where he last left off.  That is exactly what he did. Russell won the 100-lap event at Desoto, capturing the pole and the win in near dominating fashion.

“We went there, just trying to go there and have a good finish and have fun,” said Russell.  “We just wanted to get back on the right track after a couple of off weekends.  We went up there with a goal of setting the pole.  We did just that, set fast time, and decided we would just let the race fall how it would fall.  About the 10th lap we took the lead and went on from there.   We had a strong car all weekend long and was exactly what we needed.”

Russell and the #36 Rinnai/Tempaco/Dave Brewer Custom Homes team traveled to Columbia Motorsports Park this past weekend, a make up of an event in which Tim set the second quick time at earlier this year before the event was rained out.

Tim has gotten back into winning races as of recent.
The time away from the track didn’t detour Timmy.  The 22-year-old requalified on the pole and eventually finished second.  It wasn’t too bad for the first full-fledged race the youngster has run on the track.

“They inverted five, which meant we had to start fifth after grabbing the pole.  We were up to second by the 10th lap.  We just fell in line and raced behind the leader (Chuck Burkhalter).  I was able to learn some stuff by doing that.  It was my first time there, so I wasn’t really sure of the best places to pass there just quite yet.
“We ended up finishing second.  He did a good job at holding us off.   It was a fun race.  There was a little beating and banging going on between me and him.  It was a nice, little friendly competition.”

Now, Russell has recorded five wins and nine top-10 finishes in his 11 races at various tracks, including Orlando, DeSoto, and New Smyrna, so for this season.

“We are going to work on a new streak now,” added Russell.  “That is all you can do.  That just shows how strong our team is.  We work hard on getting out cars as good as possible and we want to go out there and just have fun.  And when you do that, it pays off by winning and running up front.”

Russell will head back to Desoto Super Speedway on September 3rd for his next scheduled event.  Needless to say, he is excited to get back to the track.
“We’ve won three straight there, so I’m excited about going back down there.  Hopefully after that, we’ll have our Super Late Model done.  I can’t wait to get out there and race with those guys.  We are hoping for September 16 at Orlando SpeedWorld as being the first race for that car.  That is the race we are trying to run, realistically, but we hope to test it before then.”
