Tim Russell On A Hot Streak, Wins Third-Straight Late Model Race
22-Year-Old Has Them Covered At Desoto Super Speedway
At this rate, Tim Russell would like to be racing somewhere every single weekend in his #36 Rinnai/Tempaco/Dave Brewer Custom Homes Late Model.

On Saturday night, Russell won his third-straight Pro Late Model event, dating back to last month when he won back-to-back races on the same weekend at two different tracks.  The near month off didn’t slow Russell down, as he got right back in the flow of things and found himself in Victory Lane once again.
Russell returned to Desoto Super Speedway, the site of one of his wins last month, with a bullseye on his back.  However, he didn’t let the fact that the competition was gunning for him slow him down a bit.  Instead, he welcomed the challenge and did it with a smile on his face.

“It feels pretty good to show up to the track and know everyone is shooting for you,” said Russell.  “We are getting there.  People are now there looking to go after us, which really is a compliment.

“But that isn’t what drives us.  We just try to go out there and have fun every time.  We will just look to keep the streak going and have fun while doing it.  If not, we’ll just shoot for top-three finishes.  We just want to keep having fun.  If you are having fun, all the finishes will line up where they should.
Tim has been on fire behind the wheel of his #36 recently.
“Of course, it is easy to have fun when you are winning.”

Russell qualified third in the Turner Tree and Landscape Limited Late Model 100.   The field was inverted by five after the roll of dice putting, Russell toward the tail of the top-10 to start, despite his solid qualifying run.

It wasn’t long before Russell made a charge through the pack and got by Shawn Icely to take the top spot. Several cautions flew during the race, bunching the field and putting the competitors right on Russell’s back bumper, but Tim could pull away following each restart.

“We went down there and felt pretty good going back there after the run we had at the track at the end of May,” added Russell.  “We were quick in practice and we qualified third.  I felt pretty good for the race and knew we had a better car than we showed in qualifying.   On the inversion, we had to start seventh.  We got going and about the seventh lap, I was passing for fifth and I went off into turn three and the guy got into me and I got spun around, but they ended up giving me my spot back.
“We worked our way back to the front. We took the lead somewhere around halfway and went from there. We were ale to maintain a good lead.  We had a really good car.

“All in all, it went pretty good for the whole weekend.”

Now, Russell will head to Columbia Motorsports Park in Lake City, FL on July 9th for a Goodyear Challenge Series race.  Russell won the last Goodyear Challenge race, at Orlando Speedworld, last month.

“Hopefully, we just keep running up front and finishing well and we can open some eyes of some perspective car owners.  That is what we really want to do.  I’d like
to get into some sort of deal with that.  If we just keep working hard at what we are doing, hopefully that will take care of itself.”
