When the lights come on at Florida’s New Smyrna Speedway Saturday night, they will splash down on the sides and roof of the Tim Russell, Inc. (TRI) No. 36 Super Late Model. On that car, the decals of Barn Light Electric will be seen for the first time in the Bright House Challenge 100. The Titusville, Florida based light fixture company has had works featured on network TV with ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and cable TV with Discovery Channel’s Construction Intervention.
Now, Barn Light Electric will be taking part in supporting Russell, a multiple-time winner and champion at New Smyrna.
"We had a meeting and showed Bryan and Donna Scott everything at the shop and we had a discussion about them coming on board with us," said Russell. "So it all came together and they are going to be on the car for the August 4th race at New Smyrna. We know we can get a strong finish, but we want to bring them home a victory."
Russell has spent most of the 2012 season in or around race cars and he has already tasted victory this season, but his off-the-track efforts have kept him busy with family and his driver development program.
"It's been a while since I got to race, but it's all been for good reasons," added Russell. "My wife and I had another baby and our Driver Development program has really taken off this year, so I have taken some time out from being in the car. That just makes you more excited to climb back in."
Russell and his wife An'Marie celebrated the birth of their second child, Dylan John last month, who joined his older brother Tanner in the Russell home. While keeping up with his growing family, Russell has been overseeing the TRI Driver Development program, which has logged three wins with Devin McLeod and a pair more with rising superstar Kyle Larson, who got his Late Model win with Russell back in February.
Russell will show off the Barn Light Electric decals on the number 36 machine this weekend in the Bright House Challenge 100 lap Super Late Model event at New Smyrna Speedway (FL). He's a former champion in the series and is looking to log another win. Russell also has tons of success at the New Smyrna track having won the Governor's Cup 200, The Clyde Hart Memorial, The Pete Orr Memorial and other wins along the way. Russell also won the 2011 New Smyrna World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing title.
About Barn Light Electric Company: Barn Light Electric is the essence of the American Dream. A passion for a part-time hobby turned into a full-time successful business for Bryan and Donna Scott, co-owners and Florida natives. With a passion for antique light fixtures, Bryan launched the business in his backyard barn in 2001 by restoring vintage lights he found in antique stores, estate sales, abandoned buildings, and garage sales. When those became harder to find, Bryan decided to create his own. He wanted his new lights to be manufactured the old-fashioned way with quality, commercial grade materials right here in America representing original barn lighting styles.
Bryan and his wife Donna left their professional careers in 2008 to manage the business full time. In the last four years, they have added more than 50 employees, built a new retail showroom, and created their own line of porcelain enamel lighting. Barn Light Electric has worked with multiple television networks such as ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, DIY Network’s Garage Mahal and Kitchen Crashers, and Discovery Channel’s Construction Intervention. They have also worked with a number of local projects within their own community.
