Russell Lives up to Reputation of Success in Red Eye 200
Florida Driver Looks Forward to 2010 Season Filled with Competition
Coming off a stout 2009 season packed with three Triple Crown victories, including the prestigious Governor’s Cup,  at New Smyrna Speedway (FL), Tim Russell entered the 2010 season looking to continue his success into the next decade.  The Florida native didn’t spend too much time out of the driver’s seat over the holiday season as he wasted no opportunity and entered the Red Eye 100 at New Smyrna, a track where he has found plenty of success in the past, this weekend.  Unfortunately, due to handling issues, Russell wasn’t able to stretch his win streak to three, he was however able to bring his Tempaco and Noritz Chevrolet home in the top five.

“It was a good run,” commented Russell.  “Obviously we would have liked to have won, but we were trying some stuff to get ready for the PASS race coming up later in the month and what we tried didn’t really work too well.  It was good for the first half of the race and we ended up just getting ourselves too tight to do anything or contend for the win.”

The Pro All Star Series will make their way to the New Smyrna Speedway on January 30th for the PASS Winter Fest 150, a race that Russell has been preparing for with much anticipation.

“PASS is a great series,” said Russell.  “They’ll bring a little bit of different competition down here so that will be good, we’ll just have to keep working and see what we can do for them.”

After that, once the racing season begins to heat up, Russell plans to concentrate on finding more success at his home track during the 44th Annual World Series of Stock Car Racing on February 5th – 13th.

“Then things really get started going,” explained Russell.  “We’re, of course, going to start focusing on Speedweeks and trying to get some wins early in our 2010 season.”
