Tim Russell has had a great season at Desoto Speedway (FL), so far in 2010. The multi-time Super Late Model champion has scored three wins at the track in the Hoosier Elite Series. This past weekend, he showed up with a new ride and the results were almost the same before a harmless spin left him 15th in the final rundown.
“We have been working on a new Lefthander racecar since we totaled one at Speedweeks,” said Russell. “We decided to take it to Desoto and had it running pretty good before we got crossed up with a lapped car who came down on us and we spun out while leading the race.”
Instead of taking a chance of tearing up a new car, Russell pulled into the pits and parked his car with only 20 laps remaining after the spin. He knew they had a good piece and will make until next week to hopefully cash in with a victory.
“The guys did a great job working on this car and we plan on running it some of the bigger races at the end of the year if appropriate funding is available. We still have lots of plans to run some races and of course the Governor’s Cup 200 at New Smyrna.”
Russell will return to action on Saturday, September 18th at the Auburndale Speedway in Florida. He already has two wins in three starts there this season.
