One-for-One is Ok for Russell in Doubleheader Weekend
Victory at Desoto Makes it Two in a Row for Longwood Florida Native
Tim Russell’s dream weekend would have involved winning two races in two days, however Mother Nature washed out any chance of that happening this past weekend, as rain postponed the Orange Blossom 100 at Orlando SpeedWorld on Friday night. Russell still got a chance to race on Saturday night at Desoto Super Speedway and the result was another trip to victory lane.
“Once again the guys gave me a great racecar,” said Russell. “The insurance Offices of America Chevy was really good at Desoto. We didn’t run a lot of practice, set fast time in qualifying, took the lead after 10 laps and just went on from there.”
It was the second straight win for Russell at Desoto as he won the Icebreaker 100 there just a few weeks back. The car was a little different this time around even better then the first trip to victory lane.
“The car was pretty much the same,” added Russell. “We went with a new shock package and it made the car better. Again I never can give my crew enough credit for all the hard work that they do for our race team.”
There are still plans to venture away from the East Coast of Florida to run some of the bigger Super Late Model events in the south. Russell’s next scheduled race will be on April 24th at New Smyrna Speedway (FL).
