Russell Rallies From 19th for Top Three Finish at Auburndale Florida SLM Veteran’s 5-Race Win Streak Ends with a 3rd Place Finish
Tim Russell took his #36 Super Late Model to Auburndale Speedway (FL) this weekend looking to stretch his win streak to six.  Unfortunately, an altercation near the start of the event threw a kink into the plans of Russell and his Insurance Offices of America Chevrolet.

Russell qualified third fastest and started inside of row three, in the fifth position but wasn’t able to hang there long before bad luck struck.

“We qualified pretty well so we were starting towards the front,” explained Russell.  “But when I was passing for fourth, the guy came down on me and we ended up having to go to the rear so I had to fight to get from 19th back up to third.”

“We had a really good car but going to the rear just set us back a little more than we could make up,” said Russell.  “We definitely needed some longer runs there at the end of the race to be able to hook up and move.”

Due to lack of funding and a baby on the way, Tim Russell has chosen not to make the journey to Concord, North Carolina this weekend for the PASS South Old Glory 150 at Concord Speedway but will stay home and await the arrival of his first child instead.

The next race on the horizon for Russell and his #36 team will be the Orange Blossom 100 at Orlando Speedway on June 11th.
