RUSSELL MAINTAINS SUNBELT POINT LEAD AFTER ORLANDO
Second-Place Run Keeps Russell Atop Standings
As the summer heat is getting hotter in Florida, so is Tim Russell and his Rinnai racing team.  In his latest event at Orlando SpeedWorld, Russell brought home an impressive, hard-fought second-place finish.  In doing so, he increased his points lead in the Sunbelt Series Super Late Models.
“Overall Orlando was a good weekend for us,” said Russell.  “We finished second which was pretty good with all the circumstances we were faced with.  We qualified sixth, we were a little too tight for qualifying so we freed it up for the race, and we got to third by lap 20.”

Once the race was underway, things didn’t get much easier for Russell.  As he was pushing his car forward, other cars were working their way back, in the process creating more challenges for Russell and his team to bring home a top-two finish.

“For most of the race we were up front, in the top-five just biding our time,” added Russell.  “There were a couple of on track  incidents that others
cars were involved in, and when those occurred we got run into and had some damage to our car.  Towards the end of the race, with the damage that we had I didn’t know if we could get by the leader, so I just settled and we were able to pull out a second place finish.  We have a week off now, so we will just regroup get ready and head to Lakeland.”

Russell will hit Lakeland, FL's USA International Speedway on June 7th for the next Sunbelt Series race, but before that, he'll run with the Bright House Challenge Series on May 17th at New Smyrna Speedway (FL).
