Tim Russell is a man on a mission in the Sunbelt Series, and he got a little bit closer to completion of that mission with his second place finish at Orlando SpeedWorld this weekend.
“This weekend was a wild one,” said Russell. “It rained all week and the
track was seeping water, and it threw everyone for a loop in practice and
in qualifying. We were able to qualify our car in the second position which
was pretty good, but we started the race single file due to the track
conditions.
“Once the race started, we didn’t really have anything for the leader.
It was a good race, and a good points day for us as well. It was another
second place finish, about our eighth one this year. We will just work a
little harder and get ready for the next race where we can hopefully bring
home another victory.”
He won’t have too long to think about that second place finish, as he
will turn right around this weekend and be back in racing action at New
Smyrna Speedway for the next Brighthouse Challenge Series event.
“This next weekend we will be heading into the Brighthouse race at New Smyrna, and we are going in as the points leader,” added Russell. “Hopefully we will be able to get a good solid finish and wrap that up this weekend.
New Smyrna is a track that Russell is very familiar with, and one that he has had success on in the past. His season stats for 2007 are very impressive, and he looks to be able to add another win mark this weekend at New Smyrna Speedway.
“I always enjoy racing at New Smyrna, it’s a blast with the pavement now. It is a lot faster and a real racy track. It should be a good show for the fans. We have won there before in the past but not this year. It’s going to be tough, there is going to be a lot of competition there this weekend so hopefully we can step it up a notch and go out there and bring home another win for our Rinnai team.”
Tim Russell will be back in action this Saturday November 10, 2007 at New Smyrna Speedway in the latest Brighthouse Challenge Series event.
