Tim Russell has been a force to be reckoned with in the Sunbelt Super Late Model Series all season long. On Saturday night at Ocala Speedway (FL) in the Powell Memorial, Russell proved that it doesn’t matter where he races or what series he races in, he is going there to contend for the win.
“It was a pretty good race for us at Ocala,” said Russell. “We qualified second but with the inversion we had to start 12th. We were able to work our way up to the top-three in our Rinnai Dodge and that is where we stayed for most of the night.”
Typically, Russell normally runs a single car team, but this time Russell and his Rinnai team headed to Ocala with a teammate; past Powell Memorial winner Patrick Williams.
“This weekend we had a teammate with us,” added Russell. “Patrick finished second, and I was able to finish right behind him in third. Patrick has been spotting for me, but it was pretty cool to have him race for us as well.
“We both started fairly far back in the field and had to work our way up when the guy who ended up winning started third. So with all considered, second and third are some solid finishes and should give us some momentum going into out next race in two weeks."
