Tim Russell Is Back On Track In Lakeland
Russell Ready for Sunbelt Challenge
It’s been awhile but Tim Russell is ready to get back on the track.   Saturday April 29th will mark his return to racing, when he heads down to Lakeland to run in the Sunbelt Super Series Brighthouse 125.
“The race coming up in Lakeland is our first one in about a month,” said Russell. “We have been testing a little bit in order to get ready for the race.”

That was not entirely according to plan.  Russell had hoped to enter the Easter Bunny 150 Pro All Star Series South event at Hickory last week, but could not make it.

“I am a little bummed out that we didn’t get to go to Hickory Motor Speedway for the first PASS South race, but I guess things weren’t meant to be.  We just didn’t get the car finished in time, I was pretty excited about going there to race with the PASS guys but there will be other times.”

Russell’s plans for this year haven’t yet been set in stone.  His team is looking at trying to make some runs at races all across the Southeast.  Those plans include some starts in the inaugural season of the PASS South, which has 10 more races left this season.

“We are going to try to run most of the Sunbelt races, and we are going to try and hit most of the big races that we can.  We are going to try and run at Desoto and Bradenton, and probably come up and do some of the PASS South races as well.

“Some PASS races are definitely going to be in our future, just right now we are focusing on this upcoming race at USA International.  We are just trying to do all of
the races that we can do in conjunction with the ARCA races we still have left to race.”

His car will also have an additional sponsor as they head back to the track, with Elite Weiler Pools signing on as an associate sponsor throughout the season.
“Elite Weiler Pools is our new sponsor that will appear on our car at USA International Speedway, they build all kinds of pools and spas for a bunch of different locations around the Sarasota area.  I think they do somewhere over 1600 pools a year, and it’s great to have them on board.”

While Russell is getting back on track, there really is no better place for him to do it than Lakeland Florida, which is home to USA International Speedway.
He has a history of top 10 and top five finishes there.  The last time he made some laps around the track, he walked away with the trophy.

“Last time we went to Lakeland was when we went in October with the Late Model and we won,” added Russell. “We pretty much dominated that race, and I really love going to that place.  It should be pretty exciting.  It’s nice, it’s fast and there’s a lot of good racing there”
