The 2006 season has been a rather good one for Tim Russell. He made his ARCA RE/MAX Series debut, finished solidly in the top-10 in a couple of other ARCA starts and run competitively in nearly every Super Late Model race he’s run this year.
During one of his few off weeks, Russell headed to Talladega Superspeedway, where he took in ARCA RE/MAX testing as a spectator and got see the newly-repaved track for the first time. Russell was able to spend time with the Hagans Racing team, who he drives for in the ARCA Series, as they get prepared for the Talladega event where team owner Matt Hagans will be behind the wheel.
“Talladega was good and was a lot of fun,” said Russell. “I was just learning and
getting ready for next year. The track looks a lot different and should be pretty good.
The fans should be happy. If they like a lot of side-by-side racing, they should have
plenty of it there.”
While Tim is looking forward to next year, what he wants to do at the moment is to
keep himself fresh by continuing to compete with his familiar #36 Rinnai Super Late
Model. This weekend, he’ll compete with the Sunbelt Super Late Model Series at
Columbia Motorsports Park.
“I’m really excited to go back to Lake City. We qualified second last time we went
there. We almost tied Wayne Anderson for the pole and just got a little too tight in
the middle of the race. I think that we should be pretty good when we get back to it.
“I have always ran pretty good there. I think I have raced there a total of three times
and came in first, second and sixth and we have qualified no worst than second. We
just have to try and have a nice solid run and hopefully we will be a contender for the
win.”
The Sunbelt Super Late Model 125 event will get underway at 7:30pm this Saturday September 30th at Columbia Motorsports Park located in Lake City, Florida.
